While affiliate programs are a good way to get your business growing quickly and exponentially, it is also an unfortunate reality that most of your affiliates will never make any sales at all. Only about 5% of your affiliates will be top performers – and have the skills and assets needed to succeed.

However, you can hugely improve these figures by making it easy for even novices to gain experience as affiliates and promote your products effectively. You can do this by motivating and training them in powerful affiliate marketing techniques and offering incentives for success.

Your Affiliate Toolkit

At a bare minimum, your affiliates should have access to ready-to-go promotional material including banners, button graphics, classified ads, ezine ads, solo mailing copy, website advertorials, articles and even space ads for print media.

Most affiliates are too busy or lazy to do it all by themselves. By making it as simple for them as possible to promote your program, you will vastly improve your fraction of active affiliates.

You could go a step further for the best affiliates, doing tele-seminars for them, or creating special reports that are rebrandible with their affiliate links, or setting up unique discounts or bonuses for their referrals.

Affiliate Contests

Many affiliate managers have reported outstanding success in motivating affiliates to sell more products by running contests. These are often limited-time events where the affiliate making the most sales within a certain period will win either cash prizes, gifts, or get temporarily higher affiliate commissions.

With some high priced products, this bonus could work out to be a significant amount of money – making even ‘lazy’ affiliates wake up and take notice.

Tracking Referrals

While there are many ways to do this manually, all are cumbersome and time-consuming. Unless you absolutely cannot afford a program to manage your affiliate program, or plan on keeping it very small, you would do better to have an automated solution for tracking referrals and calculating commissions.

There are a great number of affiliate program software solutions, ranging widely in price and features. Look for the kind of features you need and read reviews on various solutions before picking the one you want to use. Be sure to make this choice carefully, as it becomes incredibly difficult to change your affiliate program software mid-way through your promotion.

Affiliate Coaching

Some program managers conduct formal training programs for their affiliates that helps them sell more volume. This is very similar to sales-person training programs that many offline businesses use to boost the efficiency of their sales force. Your affiliate army is your personal sales team – take care of them well, and enjoy the benefits of hands-off business growth.

As an Internet infopreneur, your most powerful competitive advantage will come from being able to drive a high volume of targeted prospects to your sales webpage or otherwise get your marketing message in front of as many targeted eyeballs as possible.

In this article, we’ll look at some of the best ways to drive website traffic – with brief descriptions of how you can implement the technique in your information marketing.

Blogging

If you don’t have a blog (or ‘web log’) yet, set one up. WordPress and Movable Type are excellent blog programs. Blogger (at http://www.Blogger.com) is the quickest to get started without struggling with technical issues. Get one set up right away. This will become one of your most powerful traffic driving methods, so don’t delay it.

Customize your blog so it is optimized for your best keywords. Then post to your blog regularly, choosing the best keywords that describe your product or service or niche, and including them in each post. Do this on a consistent basis and you will be rewarded by a flood of fresh visitors to your website very soon.

Technorati

Technorati (http://www.Technorati.com) ‘tags’ are a system to categorize your blog content by associating it with relevant keywords matching the content of your blog. It is a powerful marketing tactic for your blog, bringing you inbound links from an authority site as well as some targeted traffic.

Paste these tags to the end of every blog post you make, and then let Technorati know you’ve updated it.

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking is all the rage today, because it brings a quick surge of website traffic. Go to ONLYWIRE – http://www.OnlyWire.com On the right side, you will see a series of bookmarking services. Register for accounts with each.

Then, drag the bookmarklet link to your web browser’s status bar. This will make it easy to bookmark your blogs/sites at all these services.

When visitors to your blog find a post interesting, they too can bookmark your post to other social bookmarking sites, raising your blog’s profile and attracting more visitors.

Squidoo

A social networking service with great long-term potential is SQUIDOO (http://Squidoo.com) After signing up for a free account, explore the guide to see how easy it is to set up your lens. Notice how you can get in links to various sections of your sites, blogs and forum posts.

At the very least, try and work links to these sections into your lens:

Your blog

Your website

the specific forum sub-pages where your posts are published

Your social bookmark homepages

MySpace

Join the millions of netizens who flock to the largest social networking site on the Internet, MySpace.com. Open your own account at MySpace. But make it specific to your niche site and business. Brand it with your business or website name. Include links to your site everywhere you can – legally.

You could extend this further and create multiple profiles, targeting different keywords or sections of your site/business.

Digg

Another highly popular social networking service which can drive a flood of traffic your way is Digg.com Like most other publicity oriented activities, you need to approach this one with a good ‘hook’ that will get your site a lot of popularity. Visitors to Digg vote on any link – and the more popular ones get higher visibility, which translates into more traffic.

Create ‘Authority Sites’

Create your own authoritative resource. It could be a research report, a list of top 50 (or 100) tips, a definitive treatise on a specific subject, a huge compilation of the best resources – you get the idea.

Then spread the word. Tell everyone about it. Make it easy for them to tell others. Let it get ‘viral’ and spread by word of mouth alone – reaching far beyond the reach of your own voice!

Forum Marketing

Marketing and promoting your website on niche discussion forums is one of the best methods of attracting interested prospects to your website. After you get a feel for how discussions progress, you should try to participate actively and promote your website subliminally through your signature.

Write Articles

Creating informative, high quality articles on the topic of your niche and submitting them to article directories and other resources where they will get maximum exposure is a great way to attract targeted visitors to your website.

Write a short article on any topic related to your niche. It should be between 450 and 600 words, include your main keyword around 4 to 8 times, and maybe have your secondary keywords too. Choose topics likely to interest readers in your niche.

Repeat this on a regular basis and you will soon find a flood of new visitors arriving at your website through the articles you have written.

eHow

Ehow.com is an interesting site, with a high page rank and tons of traffic. It is a ‘how to’ style resource where you con contribute a short ‘how to’ article on your niche. Spend some time looking around. Brainstorm ideas for creating a ‘how to’ for your niche. See if someone else has written one. If not, compose and post it – with a link back to your site and blog.

Yahoo! Answers

Yahoo Answers and Google Answers are services where people can ask questions – and have experts answer them. Look for questions related to your niche – and answer them. The best answers will be featured prominently, giving your links more visibility, and getting your niche site more traffic.

These are just 11 out of the 30 techniques explained in my ebook, “30 Days To Web Traffic” that you can get from the Infopreneur eStore.

What kind of pricing is best for your market?

That’s an interesting point – one I’ve often wondered about, and better minds than mine have grappled with for many years. It’s critically important. If you under-price your product, you are leaving money on the table. And if you over-price, you’ll lose sales.

But despite all the research and data, there still is no surefire way to assess the best price for an information product you are about to launch. Deciding upon your sale price is an equal mix of calculated guesswork, inspired thinking and sheer luck.

Pricing is determined by what the market will bear. If other products and services of a comparable nature to what you offer are selling well at a particular price point, then your product too will very likely fit in at that level.

Pricing is also limited by ‘channel’. Ebooks, for example, fetch an upper price limit of $100 even in the hypey Internet marketing field, while the same content presented as an ‘audio course’ will easily sell at $197, probably a lot higher.

And books sold in physical printed form in an offline bookstore would be hard to sell at $97 or higher – while ebooks are sold on the Internet at this price quite routinely!

Another component is what Dan Kennedy calls “selling cash at a discount”. If I have a 2-page report that shows you how to make an extra $500, and price it at $250, I am giving buyers a GREAT deal. That’s because they can use the information to double their investment in buying it.

But it is possible to carry this rule too far.

In some online niches, like Internet marketing, this concept has been stretched so thin there are some fluff-laden infoproducts selling at ridiculous multiples of the price of other comparable products. This is fuelled by high-pressure salesmanship and powerful copywriting. It is very likely a backlash will soon follow, condemning such practices and forcing vendors to drive pricing down to the level where value is higher.

A unique market segment is the BOP (bottom of pyramid) marketplace. This is a market of 4 BILLION prospects living on less than $1 a day. You could have the world’s very best info priced at $5 and they will NOT buy – because they cannot afford it.

At this point, the only formula that works in this market is:

PRICE = PROFIT + COST

You figure out your price first (say, $1 for a book), then decide how much profit you want (say, $0.25) – and then go about creating the product and distributing it at LESS than $0.75

Tough? You bet. Profitable? I wouldn’t have believed it, until I heard Dr.Prahalad’s lecture and saw some multi-MILLION dollar companies featured that followed the model.

If anything is obvious from the discussion above, it is that pricing is guesswork – and testing. Start out by testing a particular price. See how sales take off. Then try different price points. Track response. Analyze results. Stick with the price that performs best in the market.

But always keep in mind the fact that loyal clients will follow you for a long time if you focus on providing greater value than may be reasonably expected for the price you charge!

By now, you’ve no doubt heard of Yanik Silver’s Maverick Business Insider and the impressive package he’s put together for the launch of a monthly newsletter with CD.

You’ve heard or read glowing reviews from delighted affiliates who are boosting the program to the sky and higher.

Smart, shrewd and savvy as you are, you no doubt figured out already that part of the reason is the juicy affiliate commissions that these advocates stand to make from saying good things about this product.

And maybe if you’re like me, you prefer making buying decisions based on balanced and fair reviews rather than profit-driven hype, and you’ve been longing to see a glimmer of reason rather than an unabashed love-fest.

Well, I’m Going To Give It To You!

I’ve just spent 2 full hours reviewing Yanik’s new product for you.

No, I do NOT think Yanik’s newsletter is the biggest thing since sliced bread (gasp!)

And as raving a fan of Yanik’s as I am, I’m sufficiently distanced from this promotion to give you a fair, unbiased analysis of what’s good and what’s not – so YOU can make the best choice… for yourself!

The Offer

There are many components to Yanik’s offer, and I’d like to deal with each in order.

In the introductory package, you’ll get:

- a print book, 34 Rules for Maverick Entrepreneurs
- a poster of Yanik’s 34 Rules for Mavericks
- a flow chart of a profit process he shared with an exclusive group at Baja
- a DVD presentation of the same process, Leverage Points
- the first issue of ‘Maverick Business Insider’, a monthly newsletter with CD

The Book

When I first opened the envelope, I started reading the book. And couldn’t put it down!

The initial part is a slight elaboration of the ’34 Rules for Mavericks’ that’s a popular post on Yanik’s blog – it has some personal examples and insights from his life and business.

Interesting, but I did NOT think it life-changing as the sales letter may indicate. The core value is in the 34 points – and those are free as a blog post anyway!

But then, when I reached the second half of the book, I read faster. With more interest and attention. And even annoyed my wife by totally ignoring what she was saying for a gripping half hour.

What’s in it?

An interview with one of my heroes, real estate maverick Frank McKinney, founder of the Caring Home Foundation.

The powerful lessons that Yanik so masterfully extracts from this multi-millionaire in an interview is well worth paying a MULTIPLE of what the introductory pack will cost you.

While reading it, I kept highlighting portions to share with you. Thought-provoking and life impacting insights like this:

“I’ve met my share of unhappy billionaires. In the same time, I’ve met my fair share of happy homeless people. What’s the difference? These people got to the top rung of the corporate ladder, they got there, put their hand on their forehead, looking out over the horizon, and say to themselves: “IS THIS ALL THERE IS?”

Did that hit a nerve?

Do you want to be in their shoes?

I’m sure you don’t. And Frank’s interview has the seeds of the path to follow. All that he does is rooted in the philosophy:

“To whom much is entrusted, much will be expected.”

(Frank and I spoke on the phone once for around half an hour, and he mentioned this to me during that conversation).

He has taken profits from building and selling multi-million dollar sea-front homes, and used them to build residences for the homeless desperately poor in Haiti – a project I have been a proud sponsor and supporter of for almost 2 years.

Frank McKinney is a man you definitely want to know, follow and learn from. This book is a good introduction to a man I deeply admire and respect.

The ’34 Rules for Maverick Entrepreneurs’ Poster

It’s all that it’s cranked up to be – a nice, quick, easy to look at summary of the 34 Maverick Rules.

What I liked most about it was that it’s suitable to display promimently where you’re working – so you can frequently refresh your memory about the important things in your business.

I’ve got it on the wall of my workspace… see!

The DVD and Flowchart

There’s hype – and then, there’s POWER-copywriting.

Yanik is one of the best direct response copywriters I’ve studied, and so I am NOT surprised at how he’s built up the value of this single sheet of paper.

Well, not having watched the DVD yet, I can’t condemn it or put down the value of this flowchart, but let’s get real, guys. If you expect owning a sheet of paper to put $15,000 into your bank account… YOU’RE DREAMING!

What it displays is a nice set of ‘leverage points’ in your business that you are very likely under-utilizing, and if you correct or maximize, could grow your profits nicely.

Worth $15,000 really? Maybe. Maybe not.

But then, all you’re paying is a miniscule 10 bucks, so what are you complaining about, hey?!

The Newsletter – Maverick Business Insider

This is the REAL ‘product’ – the rest is essentially icing on the cake!

And I looked at it critically, because that’s the bit on which you will be basing your decision to continue with the monthly subscription membership – or canceling after the free trial ends.

The first issue is an in-depth interview with Mike Geary – who is set to make $3 MILLION this year… selling ONE ebook!

Now, regardless of what ANYONE tells you, it is NOT easy to do this… and you’d have to be dreaming if you believe anyone’s going to hand you the key to the vault, as well as share all the nitty-gritty details in a single interview, and sell it to you for 30 bucks.

That said, this is a fairly thorough and probing interview, and I learned a few interesting things about Mike’s process. It is indeed one that can be duplicated and modeled, in any niche, and with any product.

There’s also a lot of focus on the important elements like attitude, mindset and discipline – things which many ‘tactical’ manuals ignore, leaving most buyers disappointed that they can’t replicate a winning model.

The interview is available both as an audio interview on CD, and a printed transcript (I like this, because I prefer reading to learn, while you may like to listen to audio better, and we both win!)

So, to address the big question:

Can YOU Make $3 Million Selling an Ebook After Reading This?

Yes – and no.

Yes, if you’re like Mike, can handle situations and overcome obstacles like him, if you’re motivated to the same level as he was.

But let’s assume you are not – and can only achieve ONE TENTH of ONE PERCENT of what Mike’s done. Then instead of $3 million, you’ll only ever be able to make 3,000…

And That’s Not Too Bad, Is It?!

Especially when you consider that all you’re paying for it is SHIPPING AND HANDLING costs… everything else is FREE!

Can you spell WIN-WIN?

That’s what you get from Yanik’s trial offer – and when you see his Mavericks Rule #2, you’ll see what’s behind this deal:

Rule #2: Strive to create 10x to 100x in value for any price you charge. Your rewards are always proportionate to the value you provide

So does this mean I’m saying you should go ahead and sign up for Yanik’s
“Maverick Business Insider” monthly newsletter subscription?

NO.

What I am saying is
TAKE IT FOR A TRIAL RUN.

The free trial offer is completely worth the money. All you’ll pay is around $10 (or maybe a bit more) to cover shipping and handling. In return, you get the book, the poster, the flowchart, the DVD, and the first newsletter issue (in print and audio CD form)

All this with no commitment, no obligation – and you can cancel any time if you’re not totally delighted.

But Yanik knows you may STILL be hesitating.

So he’s pulled out the stops with a last-minute bonus that he only just announced. If nothing else clinches this deal for you, this will.

Remember, you don’t have to continue with the monthly subscription if you’re not totally delighted. It’s quick and easy to cancel – and you still get to keep all the goodies in this trial pack.

I see this as a ‘Very Good Deal’ – how about YOU?

FULL DISCLOSURE: All links to Yanik’s sales page from this review are
my affiliate links. If you choose to accept the trial offer, and then continue with your subscription, I will be throwing in a set of monthly bonuses for as long as you continue as a paid subscriber.

If you think this use of affiliate links and the attempt to incentivize you with a bonus are indications that my review itself is biased and weighted unfairly in favor of the product, then you don’t know me well enough… or have little experience in the value of a Yanik Silver product.

Either way, you will understand the truth
after receiving your trial pack!

But if ONLY the thought of me getting an affiliate referral commission is holding you back, then here’s something you won’t normally see being done in affiliate promotions – here is a DIRECT NON-AFFILIATE LINK that you can click on to take the free trial (and no, I won’t make a penny if you click it!)

http://www.MaverickBusinessInsider.com/

I’m doing this because YOU taking advantage of this useful information, especially the life-changing Frank McKinney material, is more important to me than a few extra bucks in referral fees!

It was way past midnight when I finished reading Willie Crawford’s diary.

No, I wasn’t snooping. Willie let a small group read a day by day diary he kept while pursuing an ambitious goal – to make $100,000 dollars in a month!

The notes Willie shared impacted me on many different levels. They will for you, too. One aspect was how he flowed projects and promotions out so that the momentum built from one of them continued with the next, on and on, growing in force and producing ever-increasing results.

I decided to implement that approach right away.

To test a viable alternative to Aweber, which has been my main email marketing service provider for a long time, I signed up to a newer service called Yezzar.com

For the list I plan to build using it, I’m setting myself a ‘stretch’ target – of 5,000 new subscribers in a month. A list of that size should be a fair test of the service’s capabilities.

I’ll be doing many things to build that list, like joining a social media marketing giveaway event in late February.

Then I figured the momentum from all that effort could be harnessed to another project. January’s ’30 Day Blog Challenge’ was an unqualified success, benefiting the participants on multiple ways. So why not a ‘List Building Challenge’ for February?

Next, I asked myself how that energy can be channeled effectively – and came up with a way to tie it in to my annual Congenital Heart Disease Awareness building event on February 14th, “A Day for Hearts”.

See where this is going?

Each individual component of a plan links up with another, lending some of its momentum to the next, and in turn being daisy-chained into one more.

Big dreams spark big challenges.

The bigger your dreams, the bigger your challenges will be.

Setting yourself small challenges along the way, and throwing yourself energetically behind them, then leveraging that effort into the next component of the overall goal, can be a fun, fulfilling and fruitful exercise.

Try it.

And if you like the idea, join me in the ‘List Building Challenge’ – learn more here.
